Since 1965, 102.3 KJLH has served the diverse communities of Southern California from a decidedly African American perspective. Our legacy of outstanding programming begins with our outstanding mix of music from the worlds of R&B, Gospel and Jazz coupled with the presentation of award winning news and public affairs.

Our commitment to culturally relevant programming is anchored by our unique and intimate connection to the communities in which we serve. Yes, at KJLH it’s more than the music. It’s about getting in the streets of Los Angeles and working alongside the community to promote kindness, joy, love and happiness; tenets that lead to the empowerment of the people. When there’s a crisis in the community, we connect directly with the people sponsoring town hall meetings that bring together politicians, clergy, activists and the public resulting in solutions to better our communities. Throughout the year, we organize and host many events that provide vital information for the wellness of the community. An example is our annual Women’s Health Forum, which attracts more than 2,000 women to the Los Angeles Convention Center for a day of valuable health information, medical testing and demonstrations.

Our commitment to the spiritual empowerment of our community is underscored by our intimate relationship with the faith-based institutions of our neighborhoods. Sunday programming is dedicated to church services, gospel music and topical discussion from a decidedly biblical perspective. Our annual Gospel Showcase at Knott’s Berry Farm is known as one of the largest gospel music events on the West Coast, attracting upwards of 20,000 people and providing families with a day of wholesome entertainment and thrilling rides.

International music superstar Stevie Wonder has owned this heritage radio station since 1979 and remains one of the only independent broadcast owners in the country. His commitment to the music, the station and most importantly to the community keeps the station firmly in his portfolio. His “Radio Vision” keeps the station focused on the empowerment and positive promotion of the community while his Radio-Free format provides a diverse musical presentation that embraces the complete Diaspora of urban/soul/black music.
