The History Council hosts this engaging series of conversations with distinguished members of our community who have compelling stories to tell. Guest speakers have included Judge Consuelo B. Marshall, Chief Judge of the United States District Court, Central District of California, the first woman to hold this post and the first and only African American woman west of the Mississippi River to be Chief Judge of a District Court.  Another esteemed guest was Reverend James M. Lawson, Jr., a world renowned spiritual leader and peace advocate who worked in the Civil Rights Movement at the request of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and served as president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference for fourteen years.

CONVERSATIONS AT CAAM with guest Synthia St. James

Award-winning artist, illustrator, and author Synthia Saint James will be interviewed by the History Council’s Marsha Hopkins for this installment of our Conversations at CAAM series. Ms. St. James, who designed the fi rst Kwanzaa stamp for the U.S. Postal Service, has written and illustrated 17 children’s books and will be sharing insights from her recent title, Living My Dream: An Artistic Approach to Marketing.
